Vincent, Jr. emigrated to America from Baden on board the Florida out of the Port of Le Havre, France. The Commander of the ship was Nicholas Moran, Master. Vincent was listed as being 15 years of age.
With Vincent were his parents, Vincent Sr. (46), Rosana Rosalia (nee Widemer) Leible (36), and three of his siblings, Francis Joseph (9), Marian (Mary Ann - 8) and Anthony (2).
Vincent's father's occupation was listed as a Laborer, but his mother, Rosalia, was (incorrectly) listed as "Spinster." (Historically, a spinster was any woman who wasn't married but the title originated from the occupation of spinning, which was usually relegated to unmarried women). Other occupations listed on the arriving passenger list included several spinsters and weavers, as well as laborers.
Many of the immigrants that came to America from the Renchen area arrived in the Port of New Orleans. However, the ship upon which the Leibles sailed arrived at the Port of New York, New York on November 21, 1836.
At the time, the Port of New York was the largest U.S. Port. Of the 5,400,000 people who arrived in the United States between 1820 and 1860, more than two-thirds entered at New York.
Four years later, on the U.S. Federal Census for 1840, the Vincent Leible (Sr.) family was documented as living in Perry County, Missouri.

NOTES THAT NEED TO BE WORKED ON AND VERIFIED....
Mary Marth's arrival in America is currently somewhat of a mystery. Both of Mary Martha's parents, Joseph and Franziska (nee Boschert) Boschert are documented as having died in Renchen, Baden, and, therefore, did not immigrate to the United States. The question remains as to when and how Mary Martha immigrated.
There is a record of an "M. Bochert, " female, age 18, arriving in New Orleans from the Port of Le Havre France on November 11, 1847. on board the Espindola. The estimated birth year on the List of Passengers was 1829 which is not consistent with Mary Martha's birth year of 1821. However, ages from passenger lists are frequently inaccurate.
If, indeed, Mary Martha was the M. Boschert on the passenger list, she would have been approximately 26 years old. She and Vincent Leible, Jr. married two months after the ship's arrival. It is not unreasonable to speculate that the families knew each other from Baden and Mary Martha immigrated specifically to marry Vincent.
Whether any of Mary Martha's other family members immigrated as well is also unknown.
Joseph Boschert is the godfather of Mary Martha and Vincent's daughter, Maria Elizabeth Leible. (Her god mother is Mary Ann (nee Leible) Sauer, Vincent Leible Jr.'s sister). It is possible that this is Mary Marth's younger brother, Joseph. There have been no records yet found on the year or location of his death, so it is possible that he may have also immigrated to America. There is a record of a Joseph Boschert who immigrated from Baden through the Port of Le Havre, France, and arrived in New Hork, New York aboard the MacEdonia on April 21, 1854. The record states that he was born in 1836 and was 18 years old. That would be consistent with Joseph's age.
However, it also says he was traveling with Justina Boschert, age 24, also from Baden. Her name is listed first and his beneath, so it does not appear that they were married. They traveled in steerage and the document indicated that they intended to stay in America. A document search of Justina does not indicate that she was married, nor does she have a brother named Joseph. If this is the Joseph Boschert that I'm looking for, it's possible that he may be a relative. This is three years before he would have been acting as the godfather for Mary Martha and Vincent Leible's daughter.
MORE NOTES FROM OLD WEBSITE - Work in Progress
The 1850 Census shows that the Leible family lived in Brazeau Township, Perry County, Missouri. Vincent Leible (Junior) was listed as the head of the household. He was 27 years old. Also listed was his sister, Mary Ann. Next listed was a two year old child, Teresa, which would have been Maria Teresa Leible, the first child of Vincent and Mary Martha Boschert. Mary Martha, Vincent's wife, was not listed on the census. This could have been an oversight of the census taker, because Mary Martha was definitely still living at the time of the census.
Vincent's parents, Vincent Sr. and his mother Rosalia were living in the home, as was his youngest brother, Anthony. Vincent's occupation was listed as farmer, his younger brother was a "laborer" (most likely on the farm) and his father, at only 58, was listed as having no occupation.
By the time of the 1860 census, the family had moved to the Cinque Hommes Township in Perry County, Missouri. Vincent and Martha had four children at this time, Teresa, William, August and Elizabeth. Their daughter, Barbara had died in 1859, the year before the census. His father, Vincent Sr., was still living with them, but his mother, Rosalia, died sometime before 1860.
Living next to the Leible family in the Cinque Hommes Township was the family of Caspar Bohnert and his second wife, Elizabeth Hurst Bohnert and their children. Vincent's wife, Mary Martha Boschert, and Caspar's first wife, Francisca Meyer, were first cousins.
These families became even more connected when several of the children married. There were no fewer than eight Leible children who married into the Bohnert family, but the ones who are most directly related to us are: INSERT TABLE OF MARRIAGES HERE

During the Civil War, as guerrilla warfare and recruiting increased in Missouri, and as the state had been stripped of nearly all but the volunteer Missouri State Militia Cavalry regiments, a compulsory militia enrollment was declared on July 22, 1862, the Enrolled Missouri Militia.
In 1864, when he was 41 years old, Vincent registered for the U.S. Civil War Draft in the 3rd Congressional District for the State of Missouri. However, there is no evidence of him having actually served in the military. INSERT GRAPHIC HERE
On April 25, 1864, Vincent remarried to a woman named Helena "Ellen" Riehl. Ellen, born on December 22, 1842, was the daughter of Johann Riehl and Catharina Schwein. Johann and Catharina were married, and Helena was christened, in the village of Jockgrim, Bavaria.
Her family, consisting at the time of herself, her parents and brothers, Johannes, Anton, and Franz Michael sailed aboard the ship, Old England, that left from the Port of Le Havre, France and arrived at the Port of New Orleans on October 29, 1850. On the manifest, Johann was listed as a farmer.
Helena's parents remained in Perry County, settling in Apple Creek. Although her father lived in Apple Creek for most of his life in America, he was buried in the cemetery of St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, MO.

Vincent William Leible, Jr. died on March 13, 1880, only three months after the birth of his son, Louis. In total, Vincent was the father of 15 children. When he died, he was 57 years old. Vincent is buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Apple Creek, Missouri. There is no marker on his grave.
Although online information regarding Vincent's burial (www.findagrave.com) states that he died on March 13, 1880, there were probate documents filed in Perry County, Missouri, on February 19, 1880. On the document, Ignatz Bohnert, the eldest son of Caspar Bohnert, is listed as one of the administrators of the estate. In the absence of any additional documentation on Vincent's death date, one might assume that one of the dates listed is inaccurate.
In the 1880 Census, Helen, recently widowed, was listed as a farmer and the head of the household. The census inaccurately lists her as being born in Missouri (she was born in Bavaria). Her stepson, Henry, at 19 years old, was the oldest male living in the household. In addition to Henry, the census lists nine other children, including Louis, who was only six months old.
The census also records that Elizabeth Bohnert, widow of Caspar Bohnert, was, once again, living next door. Elizabeth's son, William, had married Helena's daughter Maria Elizabeth five years previously and were living on the farm willed to them by Anton Butz. One would hope that the Bohnert family, who still had five men between the ages of 18 and 30 living at home, would have come to her assistance.
Helena "Ellen" Riehl Lieble died on March 4, 1886. At the time of her death, she was 44 years old and left many young children still at home. Her youngest son, Louis, was only seven years old, Vincent Wendelin was nine, Emma was 11, Josephina was 13, and Anna was 15. What immediately became of these younger children is unknown (except for Louis who died at the age of 12) because of the unavailability of the 1890 census. She is buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Church cemetery (burial record page 51). There is no marker on her grave.
